From 1st December there have been significant changes to the Housing Adaptation Grant scheme following the Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage’s comprehensive review.

These changes are set to make essential home adaptations more accessible for people with disabilities and their families:

  • 30% increase in grant limits. This raises the maximum grant for the Housing Adaptation Grant for People with Disabilities to €40,000.
  • 25% increase in household income thresholds.
  • Simplified means testing process to improve accessibility and fairness.

You can find the new application forms from local authorities. Only applications submitted on or after the 1st December will be considered under the updated scheme.
