Glyphosate campaign Update from Parkinson’s Europe

Dear all,

As you are aware, the EU has renewed the glyphosate approval for a further 10 years. The European Commission has recently published Questions & Answers on Renewal of the approval of glyphosate which provides further information on their decision.

The outcome is obviously very disappointing news for Parkinson’s Europe and the Parkinson’s community across Europe. However, we would like to thank everyone again for their efforts and support over the past few months. Being part of this campaign has been extremely rewarding and insightful and we feel there is much we can learn from recent activities. The important issue of pesticides does not stop at this vote and if anything has made us more determined to monitor research on pesticides, support national campaigns and explore what further actions we can take at European level.

In terms of the next steps for the glyphosate campaign and pesticides in general, we will be discussing this at the Parkinson’s Europe PAG meeting on the 25 January.

In the meantime, we would like to bring to your attention that PAN Europe and 4 member organisations are challenging the re-approval of glyphosate in the EU Court. They have informed us that they have  8 weeks to send a Request for Internal Review to the Commission. If you would like to join their support team, please email directly or use this form.

Thank you again for your support and may I take the opportunity to wish you (and your organisation) happy holidays and all the very best for the New Year!
