MoveWell Parkinson’s Programme – Research Study Opportunity
We’re pleased to share information about the MoveWell Parkinson’s Programme, a free 6-week research study for people living with Parkinson’s disease in Laois and Offaly. While this programme is not run by EOPD Ireland, we are happy to signpost members of our community to opportunities that support movement, wellbeing, and evidence-based research.
Who Is This For?
The MoveWell Parkinson’s Programme is recruiting adults living with Parkinson’s disease who are based in Laois or Offaly and are interested in taking part in a structured exercise-based research study.
What Is Involved?
Participants will take part in a combination of in-person testing, group exercise classes, and an online session over a six-week period.
This includes:
- In-person pre- and post-testing
Testing will take place at the Parish Centre in Portlaoise (R32 FH67) before and after the programme. Participants will choose a preferred 90-minute testing appointment at sign-up, either Monday 9th or Wednesday 11th February 2026, between 9.30am and 1.00pm. - Two in-person exercise classes per week
Participants will attend two 60-minute multimodal exercise classes per week in Portlaoise for six weeks. These take place on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9.30am in the Parish Centre, starting Monday 16th February. Monday sessions will also include a short health education component. - One online exercise session per week
Participants will also attend one 40-minute online multimodal exercise class per week. These sessions run live on Zoom on Fridays at 9.30am, starting Friday 20th February. On-demand exercise videos are available if a live session is missed.
