Move4Parkinsons have set up a Voices of Hope Choir in Ongar. The practice sessions are in the community centre in Ongar, Dublin 15, on Tuesdays 11:00am to 12:15pm.

I have attended the first two practice sessions and found them to be fun and a great way to exercise your voice. Singing has been shown to reduce Parkinson’s symptoms like tremor, and issues with walking and posture. This is because it helps to relax muscles and release tension in the back and neck. Singing can also help to reduce anxiety and low mood by lowering stress hormones and increases the brain’s ‘feel-good’ chemical (endorphins).

I strongly recommend for others to come along to the practice sessions and stay for a chat and tea!
