There is a research project being carried out with University College Cork (UCC) to investigate the views of people with young-onset Parkinson’s Disease and how technology can support communication in daily life. UCC are trying to find out how persons with young-onset PD use technology, what their communication difficulties and needs are, what works for them and what doesn’t, and how technology to support communication could be improved.
This research is being carried out by two Student Researchers, Ellen O’Neill and Anna Whyte, as part of their Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy at University College Cork. Ellen and Anna are doing the study under the supervision of Ms Emma Gleeson and Professor Nicole Müller, Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences, UCC.
UCC are looking for participants with a diagnosis of Young Onset PD, but no diagnosis of dementia or other cognitive impairment, who are interested in discussing their views and experiences of using technology to facilitate communication in daily life.
If you have any questions about this study or would like to participate in this research, you can use the contacts below. If you are interested in participating in the research project, you will be sent an information leaflet with more detail on the study and a consent form.
