Purpose of The Community Grant 2025
EOPD.ie is proud to offer Community Grants designed to support initiatives that enhance the health and well-being of people living with Parkinson’s disease (PD) across the Republic of Ireland. For 2025, a total fund of €6,000 is available, with individual grants of up to €1,200 per applicant.
Being active can have a profound and positive impact on living well with Parkinson’s—regardless of symptoms or time since diagnosis. The Community Grants programme aims to fund community-based education and outreach projects that address unmet needs within the Parkinson’s community. EOPD.ie’s funding model supports programs that are impactful, scalable, sustainable, and measurable.
What types of programs do we fund?
For the 2025 funding cycle, applications must incorporate at least one of the following focus areas:
Exercise and Physical Well-being: Programs that educate and deliver exercise specifically designed for people with Parkinson’s, led by qualified professionals in Parkinson’s-focused exercise disciplines (e.g., dance, Tai Chi, adaptive fitness, cycling, boxing, etc.). Proposed initiatives should align with the Parkinson’s Exercise Recommendations to achieve targeted, optimal outcomes.
Support for Care Partners: Initiatives that provide education and resources for primary and secondary care partners, addressing priority topics and demonstrating measurable impact.
Mental Health, Wellbeing and Social Inclusion: Programs that promote emotional, psychological, and social well-being through awareness, education, support, and social connection for people living with Parkinson’s, their families, and care partners.
Through these grants, EOPD.ie seeks to empower communities, promote health and resilience, and foster inclusive, evidence-informed approaches to living well with Parkinson’s. EOPD.ie funds programs that are impactful and these programs may be new and existing grant-supported areas and/or pilot programs. All funded organisations and institutions must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Desired Impact
EOPD.ie seeks to support initiatives that deliver clear, measurable, and lasting benefits to the Parkinson’s community. Projects funded through the Community Grants programme should demonstrate positive outcomes in one or more of the following areas:
Increased Physical Activity: Enabling people with Parkinson’s to become and remain active, or to meaningfully increase their levels of physical activity through evidence-informed, Parkinson’s-specific exercise programmes.
Expanded Access: Enhancing the availability and accessibility of high-quality physical activity, education, and support opportunities for people with Parkinson’s and their care partners across the Republic of Ireland.
Improved Mental Health and Emotional Well-being: Promoting emotional resilience, psychological health, and social connection through initiatives that reduce isolation, foster social inclusion, and strengthen community networks.
Enhanced Quality of Life: Empowering people with Parkinson’s—and those who care for them—to live well, feel supported, and participate fully and inclusively in their communities.
