EOPD.ie has announced that it has received confirmation of charitable status from the Charities Regulator.
The purpose of EOPD.ie is to enhance the lives of people in Ireland who live with Early Onset Parkinson’s.
Commenting on the awarding of charitable status, Mary Casserly, Chairperson of EOPD.ie said:
“This is a very significant day for the Early Onset Parkinson’s community in Ireland. There is a common misconception that Parkinson’s is a condition that affects only older people. However, it is estimated that more than 20% of people are diagnosed before the age of 60. Our aim is to provide support for people diagnosed with Parkinson’s, in particular those who may be in employment, bringing up a young family or having to live with this condition for a substantial portion of their life.”
